A Small Victory and an Ongoing Change

Back out for nine holes yesterday.
Got a new golf Buddy. He loves to play and has decent game, very similar to mine.
We got out to Crane Meadows in Weston, WI

This Course in the past has been in disarray and very bad green conditions.
This year they have picked up the slack. I new they could turn it around.

Still a little more expensive than other nine hole rounds and courses in the area, but slowing living up to the price. A dollar more than others.

The greens are looking better, less brown areas, divots and general crap.
The fairways look great and there are a couple of areas that have been severely repaired, which is great. The tee boxes are being moved around to allow differing play for several skills of players.
I played from the Blue tees which adds a few yards to the course and some mental challenges due to long par 5's through a thin wooded tee shots.

I'm upgrading this course to a Par+. The Price holds me back a bit, and the greens could still improve, but a very good course for the average golfer. Especially if you live in the area. Save gas and stay local.

Maple Hills in Wittenberg

Went and played this nine holer out by the casino. One of teh Better nine holes I've played in Wisco. I compare the upkeep of this course to the American Legion course in Wausau.
Good Green and Fairways. Tree lined holes and well placed tee boxes.
12 Bucks for 9 walkin holes is actually the best price around by a buck.
A full bar in the club house. Seems to have all the good stuff.
I went around twice on this course and it was just as good the second time around, though I did shoot better the second nine.

I give this course a birdie. I would recommend this course to anyone within 30 minutes or so. Of course I never would tell anyone to travel out of their area for a nine hole course.

McCauslin Brook Front Nine

Golfed nine holes this weekend, Saturday afternoon.

McCauslin Brook Country Club
Lakewoood, WI

A very organized course and club house. This is the first course that I have played in Wisconsin that had a starter at the first tee. I just figured Wisconsin golf courses didn't know what a starter was.
The course was in great condition. Nice greens, challenging slopes and huge doglegs.
I shot fairly well for only golfing 3-4 times this year.

I give the Front Nine or the McCauslin Brook Course a Birdie. I would definitly play it again and if the back nine is as good or better than the front, this course would probably get an eagle. Just for having a Starter, they get a bump.

Another day of Golf

Went out golfing, took the kids, and a golfer that hasn't been on the course in 20 years.

I Left my Woods at Home. Longest Club in the bag was a 3 iron.

Had a good time.

Kids had fun, and Got someone back into the game. He's ready to go at the drop of a hat now. Which is good since I lost my Golf partner from the last couple years to a woman.

Why isn't golf free? or where can I go where it is?

A day of Golf

A horrible day of golf at Trapp River is Still better than a day without.
I shot 3 balls in the water on the first Tee... Enough Said.
The Course is always looking good. Green everywhere and plenty of trees.
Though this time there was a significant difference.
The greens where rough. Not only bumpy, but divot'd and sandy. I assume they were still in rebuild mode from the winter.

Still a good course that I would always go back to.
Hole #8 is the best hole on the course. A tee shot through the trees down to the fairway and then nothing but uphill to the green. Great looking and tough.

I shot terribly!

Good Golfing

First golf outing of the year.

New Richmond Reversable 9 hole links course

The course was well put together. in one direction you play 1 through 9 and backwards you play 10 through 18. very cool concept. We played 10 through 18, which is right to left.

Even though it was early and a little windy we still had a good time. The course is well groomed in the fairways and greens. The practice green was fairly fast, but out on the course they were much slower. The OB and red staked areas are well grown out with tall weeds and such. Luckily I was only in the weeds once. I didn't lose a ball which is a win for me. Though with this open course design, there aren't amny places to lose a ball.

I do recommend this course for a quick 9. I think that this course will only get better throughout the season. Carts are 13 bucks.
The price is good for residents, and not terrible for the public.

Over all, for early in the seasom, I give this course a Par. It met expectations for an early season condition and layout.
